Automation Today - 2-2007

Welcome to this edition of Automation Today

Overall Equipment Effectiveness

The speed of change in the manufacturing industry is one that affects all our working lives. In some research we recently commissioned, Production Managers identified customer demand as the number one business pressure they had to respond to but listed “Cost Reduction, Performance Improvement and Quality” respectively as the urgent internal day-to-day priorities.

In this issue you will read how various industry sectors are meeting these challenges through implementing the latest automation technologies to ensure critical information is at the fingertips of staff whether in the boardroom or on the factory floor.

This issue of Automation Today features how a major pharmaceutical company raised its overall equipment effectiveness by refining its production line; shows how a machine builder reduced the timescales of a new build and how an OEM helped to increase the productivity of its customer to more than 3m waffles a day.

Rockwell Automation continues to work to ensure we are constantly meeting the industry and market needs within this ever changing environment.

As part of our on-going commitment to our customers, I’m pleased to inform you that Rockwell Automation has recently opened a new manufacturing, software R&D and customer services facility in Poland. This will allow us to better serve our customers across the region.

As the speed of manufacturing continues apace, I hope you find this issue useful.
