Website tools help simplify design, configuration and installation
Designed to help reduce the complexity of selecting, designing and configuring control systems, a new web site hosted by Rockwell Automation provides a valuable collection of resources and information about the company’s Integrated Architecture.
With manufacturers continually seeking to reduce the amount of time they spend configuring and installing control systems, the ability to access timesaving tools and resources in a single location is extremely helpful. The Integrated Architecture Tools Web site is designed to provide customers with a fast and efficient way to access information and get answers to questions related to Integrated Architecture and control system design, configuration and installation.
• The CompactLogix System Quick-Start guide – an easy-to-understand guide designed to help reduce the time and cost associated with engineering, configuration and installation of a mid-size control system. Featuring a walkthrough of the CompactLogix system setup process, the guide helps simplify installation with important tips on choosing and implementing the right products for the application, as well as configuration techniques and all of the necessary tools for each step.
• Sample Code Library – featuring code for common control system applications. Customers are able to incorporate code into their system, helping to reduce installation and setup time. The code can be modified to meet the customer’s specific application requirements.
• CompactLogix Performance and Capability Resources – features drawings that show popular CompactLogix configurations for EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet and standalone machines. Performance and capability resources help customers determine which control system configuration fits their application needs. Customers with little or no experience of midsize controllers are able to clearly see and understand the capacity of these controllers, as well as how to maximize their performance.
• Integrated Architecture Videos – highlight competitive comparisons and customer examples. These videos give users the opportunity to witness first-hand the underlying value of the Integrated Architecture framework.
• DeviceNet Tag Generator Tool – helps further simplify DeviceNet configuration by automatically generating descriptive tags for DeviceNet devices associated with the Logix Control Platform. By eliminating non-descriptive addresses, word bit and counting, the tags help simplify control system setup and use.
The Integrated Architecture Tools Web site and its documentation are available in eight languages, including European and Asian dialects. First-time users and veterans alike have found the Tools beneficial – in just 10 months, users have downloaded 19,000 pieces of sample code and 10,000 quick start manuals.
