Rockwell Automation adds POINT Guard I/O module to its existing line of Safety I/O solutions
Rockwell Automation is expanding its distributed I/O module family to offer a cost-effective, modular and higher-density safety I/O. The Allen-Bradley® POINT Guard I/OTM device offers safety I/O functionality with the same benefits already available in the Allen-Bradley POINT I/OTM series. It is ideal for applications where flexibility, reduced panel space and low cost of ownership are key.

Like POINT I/O devices, POINTGuard I/O products help reduce engineering and control system costs, versus comparable solutions. Diagnostics and premier integration of these modules also help reduce operating costs, with tasks related to troubleshooting and maintenance.
The POINTGuard I/O device is designed for the combined use with all other POINT I/O modules, allowing for one simplified integrated I/O control solution. This means users will experience easier-than-ever integration with Allen-Bradley GuardLogix® programmable controllers using EtherNet/IP.
GuardLogix controllers leverage CIP Safety communication on DeviceNet and EtherNet/IP for connection to Guard I/O™ devices. In addition, CIP Safety also provides for safety interlocking between GuardLogix processors.
As part of the POINT I/O family, POINTGuard I/O devices can help reduce system costs, wiring time and panel size. The modular configuration of POINT I/O units allows you to customize your I/O system by optimizing I/O count and panel space.
POINTGuard I/O devices are TÜV-approved for use in applications up to and including SIL 3, Category 4, PL e. They are designed for use with GuardLogix controllers on Ethernet/IP and Allen-Bradley SmartGuard TM 600 safety controller on DeviceNet.
