Process Solutions – Field Devices

In order to supply robust system solutions, we pre-test many third-party manufactured HART and Foundation Fieldbus field devices in our system test laboratory for compatibility with our Integrated Architecture-based plant automation system. Each field device is subjected to interoperability testing procedures similar to operating procedures in your plant. The results of each field test are recorded in a test report for integration planning purposes.

As strategic alliance partners, we and Endress+Hauser are collaborating to provide pre-integrated, pre-tested, measurement, automation and information solutions to help reduce integration costs and risks, improve operational efficiency, improve maintenance efficiency, and optimise plant assets. For Endress+Hauser field devices, we take an additional step and provide an 'Interoperability Statement' with each tested instrument.

The Interoperability Statement is assurance that the Endress+Hauser field device satisfactorily meets Integrated Architecture system interoperability performance measures, as jointly established by Rockwell Automation and Endress+Hauser, and verified through completion of common test procedures performed by either party.

Field Device Testing Procedures
The interoperability testing procedures below are followed for each field device and the results recorded in a test report for integration planning purposes.
  1. Install the Third Party Device in an operating H1 network.
  2. Change the BOF Class of the device.
  3. Assign a tag to the device.
  4. Add function blocks to device.
  5. Perform download operations.
  6. Set device to factory defaults.
  7. Configure function blocks.
  8. Export tags.
  9. Create a Control Module and add function blocks and links to the Linking Device.
  10. Verify device operation – monitor link values.
  11. Verify device operation – UPDATE Command.
  12. Verify that a device can bridge across H1 channels in the same FFLD.
  13. Verify that a device will operate with the AB CN2FF module.
