Tour drives safety offering right across Europe

Our Demonstration Van tour has proved to be a huge success over the past few years. Clocking up thousands of kilometres, as it traverses Europe, the van enables us to demonstrate our class-leading safety technology right where it matters – in the locations where it will ultimately serve.

Although trade shows play an important part of the mix when it comes to demonstrating our safety technology, there is nothing better than taking the technology to the customer and the Demonstration Van does this in an extremely effective manner. Fitted with the latest hardware, all wired up to reflect typical factory applications, our engineers are able to show actual technology in action and demonstrate the real benefits to be gained from a totally integrated and scaleable safety architecture working on the latest generation of industrial networks.

The overwhelming response from customers has been very positive, as they too recognise the advantages of local demonstrations. Indeed, in some instances, the Demonstration Van’s presentation has been complemented by a larger event encompassing seminars and other safety-related presentations.

Enrico Merati, from Rockwell Automation Italy, explains: “The demonstration van makes it possible to show customers all sorts of things that we would not usually be able to show them. The feedback from those we have taken it to has been really positive. In one month we were able to take it to over 100 customer sites, demonstrating our capabilities to over 270 people. It was at two of the meetings, arranged with our local distributor, that we also ran a seminar, expanding on the demonstrations even further.

“It is not always possible to have all our products together, in fact a normal meeting would usually only involve a demo bag or two. With the van, we can actually attach parts of our range together to demonstrate how they might look and operate in a customer’s factory. And one thing that many people discount is the value of actually putting the product into people’s hands. When they can see a physical example of what is being discussed, not only do they understand it better but they can also feel the inherent quality of build within all Rockwell Automation’s products.”
