PLC-5 to ControlLogix migration – an easy move
We are able offer numerous tools to help you and your customers migrate to newer technologies.
The conversion system enables the field wiring on a particular Bulletin 1771 I/O module terminal block (swing-arm) to be maintained, minimizing the rewiring required to convert to a compatible 1756 I/O module.
For more than three decades, we have expanded the PLC-5 / 1771 I/O product offering and added features to meet customer needs. Currently, the PLC-5 and 1771 I/O product line comprise several hundred products, and it is our intent to continue to offer every product for as long as reasonably practical.
As market needs evolved and technology improved throughout this time, the ControlLogix Platform was introduced to expand system capabilities and performance to include fully integrated motion, process, batch, safety, and drive control.
While systems based on former technology like the PLC5 family are still a wise investment, competitive pressure might push some customers to make use of the benefits from Integrated Architecture and, therefore, to migrate from the existing PLC5 platform to the ControlLogix Platform.
In order to support our customers in their migration efforts, we are offering a wide choice of tools. The latest addition is the 1771-1756 I/O Wiring Conversion System that provides a method to connect the existing 1771 I/O wiring to the new 1756 I/O modules without disturbing the field wiring connections. This dramatically reduces labour time and reduces the potential for downtime that could result from wiring mistakes during the migration process.
