If you assess, design or build machines and have used EN954-1 as a guidance standard, or if you have classified safety related systems by using the categories of EN 954-1, you will be required to reassess your machines’ safety related control systems using the new Functional Safety standards.
This process needs to be completed by 29th December 2011 when EN 954-1 will be removed as a supporting standard of the new Machinery Directive. When reassessing your machines you will discover that there is considerably more data required, in particular, Reliability Data on the safety solutions you use.
How can we help?
To help you understand the changes and manage the practicalities of the transition from EN 954-1 to EN ISO 13849-1 Rockwell Automation has put together a Functional Safety Workshop and a selection of guidance material to help you streamline the process.
